In them, he glorifies antisocial outsiders such as adventurers, pirates, and prostitutes; the tone of these works is often cynical. Brecht’s first-produced play - Drums in the Night - was premiered to rave reviews in 1922 (a year before his Baal premiered) at the Munich Kammerspiele, where he worked as a dramaturg and director. By 1924, Brecht and Feuchtwanger had collaborated on an adaptation of Christopher Marlowe’s Edward II - the first of many classic texts Brecht adapted.
